Smoking is the cause of more deaths in the United Kingdom than AIDS, road fatalities, suicide
and drug abuse put together.
Smokers fall into two categories:
1. Habit Smokers
Habitual smokers generally smoke occasionally and socially and have formed no psychological dependency
upon nicotine.
2. Compulsive Smokers
These smokers have formed a dependency on nicotine, and need it to get through emotionally stressful
events.
Hypnotherapy is very effective in smoking cessation. Habit smokers can quit in just one session.
Compulsive smokers, however, can take between 4 and 6 sessions. This is because it would be
unwise to take away the nicotine dependency too quickly as withdrawal would occur.
Again, as with habit smokers, it is a very straightforward therapy, which is incredibly effective.
